About this theme

In this theme you will work through a series of texts and activities designed to develop the essential personal, organisational, management, theoretical and research skills you need to select an appropriate topic for a Masters/PhD research project.

In this theme you will learn how to:

  • Outline and evaluate the terminology, theoretical principles and practical limitations of research philosophies, models and processes.

  • Demonstrate awareness of key health and safety issues in research project planning and design.

  • Utilise a systematic approach and personal transferable skills, including library, presentation, written, IT, evaluative, time, resource and project management skills, in order to select a suitable subject/topic for your postgraduate research project.

  • Write and present an appropriate research proposal, an appropriate title and research questions for your chosen project.
